What do you think is the place of the theatre arts in telling our history?

I hope audiences will take away respect and admiration for the actions of the 442nd and all those they supported and came into contact with. I hope the youth will see strength in action, in hope, in doing something to try and make a situation better even when it looks pretty bad to start with.

For both young an old, I think a story like this inspires us all. Even in moments of hardship and difficult struggle there are ways in which we can make situations work for us and in some circumstances even end up thriving in. This reminder is something I always try and keep in my own mind throughout my life when things get tough and I think more people should try and find the possibilities in situations that they are faced with on any given day.

I think it is one of the most easily accessible ways to teach and tell others history. (Political, social, economic...whatever!) Seeing live people, living, talking, and breathing life into events that have weight in the present day makes the information that much easier to digest and connect with.

What do you want people to know about "The Little Crane" before they attend?

Expect the unexpected, to laugh and cry, to be creative and imaginative, to let your mind wander.

If you could be an animal, what would it be and why?

Either a peacock so I could strut around and never feel like I was showing off. ("I can't help it! I was born this way!") OR a llama, so I could frown and spit on whoever or whatever I want.

Did you know the story of the 442nd Regimental Unit?

I knew there were a number of highly decorate Japanese American forces during WWII but my knowledge did not go much more in depth.
