Ripple of Hope: One Teacher's Journey to Make an Impact @KarenSklaire #rippleofhopeshow
Did you know the story of the 442nd Regimental Unit?
I knew virtually nothing, and have more than enjoyed this educational as well as creative process.
Why is this part of history important to keep alive, with both adults and youth?
Look beyond the child-like veneer. This is about all of us. Discrimination and acceptance are universal and pervade age and ethnicity lines. The lessons learned here are important for everyone to remember.
What do you think is the place of the theatre arts in telling our history?
Arts have always reflected and refracted life. We remember things we have forgotten and we look at ourselves through a different lens. The arts can cache history and culture in an palatable way, so that everyone can digest it. I think this piece more than does that.
If you could be an animal, what would it be and why?
A monkey. I climb on things. A lot.
TYLER HERMAN (Movement Coach)
What's your background?
I studied acting, directing, dance, and music at Cornell University, and for the last few years have been in DC performing, directing, and being involved administratively with theatres and organizations. I am a company member with Faction of Fools Theatre Company, where I've studied and performed Commedia dell'Arte often, and have also performed all around town at theatres large and small.
Have you been a part of Capital Fringe or any other Fringe before?
I've been a part of Fringe every year I've been in town, in some way or another! Acting mostly, though last year I reviewed several productions. Let's see...Tape and Tales of Love and Sausages in 2010, Tales of Courage and Poultry in 2011, Tales of Marriage and Mozzarella in 2012, Commedia Romeo and Juliet in 2013, reviewing in 2014, and Crane Fable in 2015.
